Columns 1–10

Introduction

This section presents the first ten columns of the Great Isaiah Scroll from Qumran (1QIsaa), analyzed as part of a comprehensive research project covering all 54 columns of the manuscript.

Each column is examined as an individual unit, focusing on orthographic features, scribal practices, and linguistic structure. The analyses include detailed observations on spelling variation, use of matres lectionis, and patterns of textual transmission, accompanied by translation and philological interpretation.

The studies presented here establish the methodological framework applied throughout the project and provide the foundation for subsequent analyses of the remaining columns.
