HEBREW FOR BEGINNERS
The Institute for Hebrew Language and Literature offers a Hebrew for Beginners course designed for all who wish to start learning the Hebrew language in a structured, clear, and engaging way.
The course lasts three months and is held twice a week via Zoom, on:
Monday and Thursday
21:30–23:00 (European time)

Course Content
This course provides a complete introduction to the Hebrew language, including:
- reading Hebrew script (print and cursive)
- writing and correct formation of letters
- pronunciation and phonetics
- grammar fundamentals
- vocabulary building
- translation exercises
- practical communication and conversation
- understanding sentence structure
- connections with other languages, especially Semitic languages
- insights into Jewish and Israeli culture
- deeper linguistic analysis of the Hebrew language
The focus of the course is not only on memorization, but on understanding how the language works, enabling students to read, write, and communicate with confidence. A strong emphasis is placed on active use of the language, including conversation, comprehension, and practical application. This course is taught by a native speaker.
It focuses on intensive conversation practice and follows the ulpan method (the Israeli standard).
Students quickly develop fluent speech, spontaneous comprehension, solid communication skills, and strong expressive ability. This course includes the development of fluent speech, spontaneous responses, the ability to understand fast-paced spoken language, as well as the use of idioms and a natural Israeli style of expression. These outcomes are achieved through an intensive learning environment and direct work with a native speaker, which is an integral part of the course.
All participants receive course literature in PDF format free of charge.
Course Structure and Requirements
This is an intensive and demanding course, intended for individuals who are serious about learning the Hebrew language. In order to achieve real progress, participants are expected to dedicate 30–45 minutes of daily study at home in addition to live sessions.
The course is designed as a foundation level, preparing students for further advancement. A second level course is available for those who successfully complete this program and wish to continue their studies at a higher level.
Instructor
The course is led by Prof. Željko Stanojević, Hebrew linguist, biblical philologist, and specialist in both modern and Biblical Hebrew, with decades of experience in teaching and research.

Course fee:
