The European Hebrew Journal (EHJ), published by the Institute for Hebrew Language and Literature (Belgrade, Serbia), is currently preparing its inaugural issue and establishing an international scholarly forum devoted to a broad spectrum of fields related to Hebrew language, Biblical studies, religion, manuscripts, history, and philology.

Please see the official Call for Papers

The journal particularly welcomes contributions in areas including:

• Old Testament / Hebrew Bible studies
• Old Testament theology, interpretation, and reception history
• Biblical exegesis and hermeneutics
• Ancient Israelite religion and historical contexts of Biblical literature
• Jewish history, intellectual history, and cultural traditions
• Textual criticism of the Hebrew Bible
• Dead Sea Scrolls and manuscript traditions
• Ancient, Biblical, Middle, and Modern Hebrew
• Hebrew linguistics and philology
• Semitic linguistics and comparative philology
• Jewish Studies and interdisciplinary humanities research
• Theology of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam within historical and philological contexts
• Hebrew literature and cultural studies
• Religious education and pedagogy related to Biblical and Hebrew studies

The journal further seeks to encourage dialogue across related disciplines including manuscript studies, philology, historical studies, textual criticism, linguistics, theology, and broader interdisciplinary approaches.

As part of the preparation of the inaugural issue, we are extending a limited number of invitations to scholars whose research has significantly contributed to their respective academic disciplines.

We would be honored to consider original research articles, review articles, methodological studies, professional papers, research notes, short communications, critical editions, annotated translations, philological notes, manuscript studies, book reviews, review essays, or other scholarly contributions relevant to the journal’s scope. Preprints previously deposited in academic repositories are also welcome and do not affect editorial consideration, provided manuscripts meet the journal’s scholarly and editorial standards.

Please note that all manuscript submissions are accepted exclusively in English in order to ensure broader international accessibility and scholarly communication.

The journal is supported by an international editorial board including scholars affiliated with internationally recognized institutions such as the University of Cambridge, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, University of Hamburg, Yale University, New York University, University of Michigan, Bar-Ilan University, and other prominent academic centers.

EHJ aims to encourage rigorous scholarship while providing an internationally accessible platform for established academics, emerging researchers, independent scholars, and qualified specialists working outside conventional institutional frameworks. The inaugural issue seeks to include invited contributions from scholars associated with internationally recognized academic institutions, alongside high-quality studies originating from broader scholarly communities.
