The Journal of Hebrew Language and Literature is an academic, peer-reviewed journal currently in the process of establishment under the auspices of the Institute for Hebrew Language and Literature, Belgrade. The journal is conceived as an international scholarly platform dedicated to the study of the Hebrew language, Biblical philology, Semitic linguistics, and related interdisciplinary fields, including comparative linguistics, textual criticism, and the transmission and reception of ancient texts.
The primary aim of the journal is to promote high-quality, original, and research-based scholarship that advances the understanding of Hebrew in its historical, linguistic, and textual development—from Biblical Hebrew and post-Biblical stages to its interaction with other Semitic and Indo-European languages. Particular emphasis is placed on philological precision, methodological rigor in linguistic analysis, and critical engagement with primary sources, including manuscript traditions such as the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Masoretic Text.
The journal publishes original research articles, critical studies, philological analyses, and review essays. All submissions undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process conducted by independent experts, ensuring academic integrity, methodological soundness, and scholarly relevance. The editorial policy is aligned with international standards of academic publishing and is designed to support future inclusion in major indexing systems and scholarly databases.
The journal is currently in its foundational phase, during which its editorial board, submission guidelines, and peer-review procedures are being formally established and refined. The first issue is scheduled for publication in September 2026, marking the official launch of the journal.
In addition to serving established scholars, the journal aims to support early-career researchers in Hebrew and Semitic studies, fostering critical academic dialogue across linguistic, cultural, historical, and methodological perspectives.

Journal of Hebrew Language and Literature je akademski recenzirani časopis koji je u procesu osnivanja pod okriljem Instituta za hebrejski jezik i književnost, Beograd. Časopis je zamišljen kao međunarodna naučna platforma posvećena proučavanju hebrejskog jezika, biblijske filologije, semitske lingvistike i srodnih interdisciplinarnih oblasti, uključujući komparativnu lingvistiku, tekstualnu kritiku i prenošenje i recepciju antičkih tekstova.
Osnovni cilj časopisa je objavljivanje visokokvalitetnih, originalnih i istraživački zasnovanih naučnih radova koji doprinose razumevanju hebrejskog jezika u njegovom istorijskom, lingvističkom i tekstualnom razvoju — od biblijskog i postbiblijskog perioda do njegovih kontakata sa drugim semitskim i indoevropskim jezicima. Poseban naglasak stavlja se na filološku preciznost, metodološku rigoroznost u lingvističkoj analizi i kritički rad sa primarnim izvorima, uključujući rukopisne tradicije kao što su Kumranski spisi i Masoretski tekst.
Časopis objavljuje originalne naučne radove, kritičke studije, filološke analize i pregledne radove. Svi radovi prolaze kroz rigorozan dvostruko slepi recenzentski postupak koji sprovode nezavisni stručnjaci, čime se obezbeđuju akademski integritet, metodološka utemeljenost i naučna relevantnost. Uređivačka politika usklađena je sa međunarodnim standardima akademskog izdavaštva i usmerena je ka budućem uključivanju u relevantne indeksne baze i naučne repozitorijume.
Časopis se trenutno nalazi u osnivačkoj fazi, tokom koje se formiraju urednički odbor, smernice za autore i procedura recenziranja, uz njihovo dalje usavršavanje. Prvi broj planiran je za septembar 2026. godine, čime će biti obeležen zvaničan početak rada časopisa.
Pored afirmisanih istraživača, časopis ima za cilj da podrži i mlade istraživače u oblasti hebrejskih i semitskih studija, podstičući kritički akademski dijalog kroz različite lingvističke, kulturne, istorijske i metodološke perspektive.
