ADVANCED BIBLICAL HEBREW
The Institute for Hebrew Language and Literature offers an Advanced Biblical Hebrew course intended for students who wish to deepen their knowledge of the Hebrew language specifically within the context of the Old Testament.
The course lasts three months and begins on September 3, 2026.
Entry Requirements
Enrollment in this course requires:
- successful completion of Hebrew for Beginners and/or Advanced Hebrew
or - prior knowledge of Hebrew corresponding to an intermediate level
All candidates without a certificate of completion will undergo a short assessment via WhatsApp call to determine their level.
Course Content
The Advanced Biblical Hebrew course focuses on a deeper understanding of the Hebrew language through direct work with Old Testament texts.
The program includes:
- intensive reading of selected Old Testament passages
- expansion of Biblical Hebrew vocabulary
- advanced grammar and verbal system analysis
- understanding of sentence structure in Biblical Hebrew
- introduction to textual and linguistic analysis
- interpretation of passages within their historical and cultural context
- comparison of different translation approaches
- development of translation skills from Hebrew into the native language
- recognition of stylistic and narrative patterns in biblical texts
- connections with Aramaic and other Semitic languages
- insights into the theological and literary structure of the Old Testament
A significant part of the course is dedicated to working directly with original biblical texts, enabling students to move beyond basic reading and toward analytical and interpretative competence.
Course Structure and Expectations
This is an intensive and demanding course, intended for serious students. Participants are expected to dedicate 30–45 minutes of daily study at home in addition to live sessions.
All participants receive complete course literature in PDF format free of charge, which includes selected texts, grammatical materials, and analytical resources.
The course prepares students for higher levels of biblical study, including specialized courses in textual criticism, Qumran studies, and detailed manuscript analysis.

Instructor
The course is led by Prof. Željko Stanojević, Hebrew linguist, biblical philologist, and specialist in Biblical Hebrew, with decades of experience in teaching and research, particularly in the field of Old Testament language and textual analysis.

- 300 EUR (full payment)
