Academic Profile
Prof. Dr. Constantin Horia Oancea is Associate Professor of Old Testament Studies at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology “Andrei Șaguna” of Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu. He also serves as Dean of the Faculty of Theology and is a member of the University’s Doctoral School of Theology. His academic work focuses on the Hebrew Bible, Biblical Hebrew, Old Testament theology, historiography of ancient Israel, and the interpretation of Scripture within the Orthodox tradition.
His research combines biblical exegesis, Hebrew philology, patristic interpretation, and the history of the Ancient Near East. In recent years he has published extensively on Genesis, the Temple traditions, biblical theology, and the reception of Old Testament texts in Orthodox hymnography and early Christian literature.

RESEARCH
Prof. Oancea’s research centers on the Hebrew Bible and its reception within Orthodox Christianity. His work investigates Old Testament theology, Biblical Hebrew, Israelite historiography, the religious world of the Ancient Near East, and biblical hermeneutics.
A significant aspect of his scholarship explores the reception of Old Testament narratives in patristic literature and Byzantine hymnography, examining how biblical traditions were interpreted within the theological life of the Eastern Church. He has also published studies on Genesis, Cain and Abel, the Jerusalem Temple, biblical imagery, and Orthodox liturgical exegesis.
