Academic Profile
Dr. Anita Fiket is a Research and Teaching Assistant at the Department of Hungarology, Turkology and Jewish Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. Her interdisciplinary research combines Jewish Studies, cultural geography, heritage studies, and tourism, with a particular focus on the preservation, interpretation, and promotion of Jewish heritage in Croatia.
She earned her academic education at the University of Zagreb, completing studies in Geography, Jewish Studies, and Swedish Language. Her doctoral research examines Jewish heritage in Croatian tourism, investigating how Jewish historical sites, synagogues, cemeteries, and Sephardic heritage contribute to cultural identity and sustainable tourism development.
Her publications contribute to the growing international scholarship on Jewish heritage preservation, heritage tourism, and the historical geography of Jewish communities in Croatia.

RESEARCH
Dr. Fiket’s research explores the historical, cultural, and geographical dimensions of Jewish heritage in Croatia. Her work investigates Jewish cemeteries, synagogues, Sephardic communities, heritage interpretation, and the role of Jewish historical sites within cultural tourism.
A major focus of her scholarship concerns documenting and preserving Jewish heritage through interdisciplinary methodologies that combine geography, Jewish Studies, heritage management, and digital humanities. Her research also addresses visitor experiences, heritage interpretation, and the sustainable presentation of Jewish cultural landscapes.
